Geneva, Switzerland, April 2022 – Euskaltel and OrbiWise recently launched their partnership to deploy a state-of-the-art LoRaWAN® network in the Basque region in Spain. The project kicked off following a call for tender published by the Basque telco operator Itelazpi with the aim to deploy a public Basque IoT Network.
First applications as part of the deployment affect both the Utilities and Smart City segments. Several municipalities throughout provinces in Spain already benefit today from water metering solutions.

In the mid-term, the entire Basque region is to be equipped with several hundreds of gateways and tens of thousands of water meters from different suppliers, providing both remote reading and network efficiency control.
