Tata Communications’ network based on LoRa technology, in its first phase, will cover 400 million people across Tier 1, 2, 3 and 4 cities – including Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore, before eventually covering all of India. Tata Communications’ initiative will mark the largest deployment of LoRa to date. In the first phase, the network will utilize LoRa’s outstanding long range and low power radio characteristics to power Smart City IoT applications such as smart metering, lighting, parking and various sensors – the application scenarios are endless.

OrbiWise and the partner LoRa Alliance members working on Tata Communications’ network provided a demonstration to Tata Communications’ senior executives at the Founder’s day on March 2nd 2016 in Jamshedpur, India (held every year in honour of the Tata group founder, Jamsetji Tata).
